RHONY will return with a new throwback spinoff featuring former housewives. There are many iconic women who starred in the franchise’s 13 seasons.
The iconic franchise The Real Housewives of New York City is set to return with two new shows, and fans are hoping that certain Big Apple stars will make comebacks in one of the upcoming series. The first show will be a complete reboot starring all-new cast members, and the second will be a spinoff featuring former housewives, which currently has two working titles, RHONY: Throwback and RHONY: Legacy. This decision was made to satisfy long-time fans of the Housewives franchise, as well as viewers who are craving a RHONY shakeup with new faces. Fans of RHONY were concerned about the popular reality show’s fate when the season 13 reunion was unexpectedly canceled.
Andy Cohen recently discussed the RHONY plans. Viewers who were curious about the show’s 14th season will be happy about this new announcement, especially knowing that the series does have a future after all. Housewives fans will enjoy the best of both worlds with the new shows. They can watch their favorite RHONY stars return in the spinoff, but also meet a new friend group based in NYC that represents women from different backgrounds.
Bravo fans are already thinking about their dream cast for the RHONY throwback reunion. “Our loyal fans have spoken as to what they want to see and what they don’t want to see — and we’ve taken that all into account,” Andy told Variety. It is safe to say that fans won’t be disappointed when it comes to the return of their favorite OG housewives on their screens. There are many interesting women who starred on the New York City-based franchise for 13 seasons. Viewers will be happy to see any of the old housewives come back. It’s time to talk about which RHONY housewives should return to the new show.
Jill Zarin is the queen of RHONY, and fans immediately think of her when reminiscing about the show. From her numerous charity events to memorable feuds with Bethenny Frankel and Ramona Singer, viewers have been begging Jill to return ever since she left the show following season 4. The native New Yorker made a few cameos in other seasons of RHONY and is an official cast member on The Real Housewives Ultimate Girls Trip season 2. Fans will get a taste of Jill’s reality TV comeback at Dorinda Medley’s house in the Berkshires, which will make fans miss her even more. Jill was always the heart of the show, and adding her to the RHONY throwback series would make for great entertainment.
Luann de Lesseps
The notorious Luann de Lesseps has been a long-standing cast member on RHONY from seasons 1-13. Fans have seen RHONY star Luann face two public divorces, become a rising cabaret star, and go through her own sobriety journey. While some viewers may be sick of seeing Luann on TV, she continues to make headlines in the news. The Countess has proven that her story isn’t done yet and is worthy of more screen time. Luann is embarking on a new cabaret tour and launched a Fosé Rosé non-alcoholic beverage. Her appearance on RHUGT season 1 allowed her to open up about her time on RHONY, and she would have a blast on the franchise’s throwback show.
Ramona Singer is one of the only original RHONY housewives who stayed for all 13 seasons of the show. Over the years, fans became irritated by RHONY‘s Ramona’s ignorant behavior, on the original show and RHUGT. The OG housewife had many scenes that kept fans laughing, such as “Turtle Time” and “Take a Xanax, calm down!” Ramona was in her prime during her glory days on the show, and she would enjoy being around other veteran housewives again. Starring in a RHONY spinoff with a more relaxed environment will show the fun side of Ramona so she can let loose and have a good time. Since Ramona wasn’t able to speak up for herself due to season 13’s reunion being called off, she may be able to improve her image for fans and fellow housewives.
Bethenny Frankel is the most beloved RHONY housewife of all time. The Skinnygirl founder was the first person to use the Real Housewives franchise as a platform to promote her brand. Bethenny was the only RHONY cast member to return to the show full-time, appearing first in seasons 1-3, and again for seasons 7-11. While the business mogul is now focusing on her company and personal life, fans would love to see Bethenny come back in at least a “friend” role. When viewers reminisce about old seasons of RHONY, they will always remember Bethenny’s one-liners, like “GO TO SLEEP” and “Get off my jock.” The throwback series would be a great opportunity for Bethenny to make more memories on reality TV.
Sonja Morgan is one of the most hilarious RHONY housewives of all time. She has been a cast member since season 3 but has always felt like an OG. Sonja brings a lighter vibe to RHONY by not taking herself too seriously. Viewers love her drunken antics, and they have become some of the funniest scenes on reality TV. Fans are also curious to know if Sonja will ever move out of her massive townhouse full of young interns. She will be going on a new comedy tour this year called “Sonja In Your City,” and people are interested in seeing where the idea came from. The new RHONY throwback show would be more fun if Sonja was a part of it.
When it was announced that Dorinda Medley was fired from RHONY after season 12, fans were outraged. Dorinda started the RHONY tradition of hosting the women at Blue Stone Manor in the Berkshires each season. Some of the greatest show scenes happened at her house, and RHUGT season 2 was even centered around the mansion. Dorinda’s famous quotes from RHONY have gone viral and made their way onto Bravo merchandise, including “CLIP, CLIP CLIP”, and “I decorated, I cooked, I made it nice!” Casting Dorinda on the RHONY throwback series would make up for the network’s mistake of putting her on “pause.”
Tinsley Mortimer spontaneously left RHONY in the middle of season 12. She finally got engaged to her “Coupon King” Scott Kluth, and headed to Chicago to make her “happily ever after” come true. However, things didn’t work out when the two ended their engagement last year. Now, more than ever, RHONY alum Tinsley could use friends to lean on after her difficult breakup. The former housewife still has an unresolved feud with Dorinda and could move back to NYC to reinvent herself once again. RHONY fans really liked Tinsley, and she would be a great addition to the throwback show.
The producers of The Real Housewives of New York City have a lot of surprises up their sleeves when it comes to casting for the throwback legacy series. It’s unclear if any of these women will make the cut, but fans are hoping that at least one of their favorite housewives will appear on the show. The network may shock everyone by bringing on controversial housewives like Kelly Bensimon or Aviva Drescher. This highly-anticipated series may give viewers the same feeling they had while watching old seasons of RHONY.
