Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands: Spore Warden Leveling Guide

The Spore Warden is one of the easiest classes to learn to play in Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands, giving players plenty of tools to use against Tina’s NPCs.

The Spore Warden is one of the best classes in Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands for players wishing to learn the ropes. Easily one of the strongest classes in Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands for new players, the Spore Warden can prove to be a fantastic class for players going through the game for their first time. However, while there is no wrong way to play the Spore Warden, the sub-optimal choices for point investment are not as apparent as other classes in the game.

In the early levels of Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands, many players may find it challenging to decide how they should be playing this versatile class. In short, the Spore Warden is a gun-focused class with strong support from their active skills and class feature. Of the two active skills, neither of the options available to players is fundamentally wrong. Proper investment into the Skill Tree will see ‘Barrage’ as the player’s hardest hitting ability, which is both a Single Target nuke and an AoE mob clearing ability. The Spore Warden’s other active skill, ‘Blizzard,’ provides players struggling with reliable Frost Damage, Wonderland’s most powerful element, that doesn’t require the player to aim. Again, neither of these active skills is the wrong option to pick while leveling a Spore Warden.

When it comes to the effectiveness of the ‘Mushroom Companion’ for the Spore Warden, this class feature requires proper use by the player to truly shine. Left to its own AI, the players’ fungal companion is nothing more than an adorable pet to take along on fights. However, the player can exponentially increase its usefulness by commanding the mushroom to attack specific targets. By pinging an enemy, the player will issue an attack command to their companion, sending their ally flying at the targeted enemy. While every class in Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands with a companion can focus their pets this way, only the Spore Warden’s ‘Mushroom Companion’ can hold that enemy’s attention. This can be used on the strongest enemies in order to tie that powerful foe down as the player takes on the rest of the trash mobs present in the combat encounter. Even without the taunt from ‘Spore Cloud,’ the Spore Warden’s minion can serve as a powerful tool for keeping scary enemies at bay.

How to Build the Spore Warden in Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands

While the Spore Warden is a powerful early game class in Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands, there are many traps players can fall into when creating their character in Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands. Due to the power of ‘Barrage,’ many players may choose to place their hero points and skill points into reducing the cooldown of this active skill. While these cooldown reductions can be powerful later in the game, it is more important early game that ‘Barrage’ kills enemies in a single shot, rather than getting a second shot one second earlier. Due to ‘Barrage’ scaling off gun damage, ‘Eagle Eye’ is the most important Tier 1 skill for players to invest in. Then players should pick up ‘Affinity,’ followed by ‘Windrunner.’ Players can max out all three of these passives by level 14, letting players destroy enemies with ‘Barrage’ as they search for the first powerful gun to carry them through the mid-game.

Regarding investing Hero Points, players should invest all of their points into Constitution during the early game, regardless of their background. As players gain more levels in Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands, they should eventually move some of these points to Attunement while keeping enough points in Constitution to remain comfortable. Players can also invest points into Strength if they often hit critical areas during gunfights. Until the higher levels, Critical Hit Rate is completely useless in Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands. Because Critical Hit Rate increases are multiplicative in nature, the stat’s effectiveness is significantly reduced during the beginning of the game. Players will find benefits to spending points on Dexterity and Critical Hit Rate later in the game. Still, those benefits will only surface after many hours of time invested in the loot-filled gameplay of Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands.
