Every Gilmore Girls Actor In The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel

Many cast favorites from Gilmore Girls have been featured over the four seasons of the hit series The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel with leading roles and cameos alike. The two shows are both created by Amy Sherman-Palladino who has also directed, written, and produced the two hit series alongside her partner and husband Daniel Palladino. Debuting on Amazon Prime on February 18th, The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel season 4 features more familiar faces, with some of the biggest names from Gilmore Girls making appearances.

Set in New York in the 1950s, The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel follows Midge Maisel (Rachel Brosnahan) wife and mother of two, who prides herself on her career as a housewife. Midge’s perfect life is upended when her husband, Joel, fails at his passion, stand-up comedy, and his failure leads him to end their marriage. In an unintended turn, Midge finds she is far more talented at stand-up comedy than Joel was and creates a big career for herself with the help of her manager and friend, Susie Myerson. Now, in The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel season 4, Midge continues to try and balance the life she knew with the life she wants with plenty of laughs along the way.

Sherman-Palladino’s Gilmore Girls ran from 2000 to 2007 and followed Lorelai Gilmore, a vivacious young, single mother, and her spunky 16-year-old daughter, Rory. Set in the fictional town of Stars Hollow, Gilmore Girls takes place in Connecticut, in a small hamlet full of colorful characters. The show was so beloved that a revival was created in 2016 titled Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life which revisited Lorelai and Rory’s lives. Here is a list of all the actors from Gilmore Girls that have made appearances (or will make appearances) in The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel.

Milo Ventimiglia As Jess Mariano

Rory’s bad-boy boyfriend Jess Mariano was played by Milo Ventimiglia. Nephew to Luke and competition to Rory’s first boyfriend, Dean, Jess Mariano had few friends in Stars Hollow. Jess and Rory had an on-again-off-again romance that lasted from Gilmore Girls season 2 through season 6. Jess was also seen in the “Summer” and “Fall” installments of Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life. Ventimiglia will be joining The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel season 4, but the details about his role are sparse aside from him meeting Midge meet in a park.

Kelly Bishop As Emily Gilmore

The matriarch of the Gilmore clan, Emily Gilmore was played by Kelly Bishop in Gilmore Girls. The ever-proper, stoic, and rather rigid Emily Gilmore was constantly at odds with Lorelai, but the role offered great depth and growth, especially in the series’ revival, Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life. After her husband’s death, Emily’s mourning process saw her let go of many of her old ways and heal much of her relationship with Lorelai. In The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel season 4, Bishop’s character, Benedetta, is listed to appear in two episodes, though little is known about her.

Alex Borstein As Drella the Harpist, Miss Celine

Alex Borstein plays Midge’s friend and agent, Susie Myerson in The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel. She had smaller roles in Gilmore Girls, playing the acerbic harpist at Lorelai’s Inn, Drella, and Emily’s flamboyant stylist, Miss Celine. Borstein’s role in The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel has won her two Primetime Emmy Awards for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series.

Chris Eigeman As Jason “Digger” Stiles

Chris Eigeman played Lorelai’s fast-talking, quick-witted, successful boyfriend Jason “Digger” Stiles in Gilmore Girls season 4. Though he and Lorelai had a lot of chemistry, Jason’s character was born from her parents’ life, something that Lorelai struggled with. The relationship ended when Jason decided to sue Lorelai’s father, Richard Gilmore (played by the late Lost Boys actor Edward Herrmann). Eigeman reprised his role for the “Winter” installment of Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life. In The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel season 4, Eigeman plays a newspaper editor at the Village Voice, Gabe, where Midge’s father writes theater reviews.

Emily Bergl As Francie

Emily Bergl played Francie in Gilmore Girls, the resident bully at Rory’s prep school, Chilton. In The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, Bergl plays Susie Myerson’s sister, Tess. Tess’s role grew at the end of The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel season 3 when she and Susie burn down their childhood home for the insurance money after Susie’s gambling leads to the loss of Midge’s money. The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel season 4 sees Bergl’s Tess enters into an affair with their insurance agent and begins working at the dodgy insurance agency.

Liza Weil As Paris Geller

One of the biggest fan-favorites from Gilmore Girls, Liza Weil played Rory’s best friend and part-time academic competition at both Chilton and Yale, Paris Geller. She too reprised her role in Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life, featured in the “Spring” and “Winter” installments. Weil joined the cast of The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel season 3 as Shy Baldwin’s bassist when Midge went on tour with him.

Bailey De Young As Heidi from the “Twenty-Something Gang”

In The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, Midge’s best friend, Imogene, is played by Bailey De Young, another Gilmore Girls alum, though not from the original series. Appearing first in The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel season 1, episode 7, Lynch’s Lennon is a fellow comedian and quickly becomes Midge’s arch-rival. Jealous of the relationship between Susie and Midge, Lennon signs as Susie’s second client, only to fail in her Broadway pursuit and have a nervous breakdown. Lynch also had a small role in Gilmore Girls season 1 as a nurse in the episode titled “Forgiveness and Stuff.”

Scott Cohen as Max Medina
