Cyberpunk 2077 Mod Makes Judy Romance Much More Realistic

A new mod for CD Projekt Red’s Cyberpunk 2077 makes V’s relationship with Judy more realistic, adding new interactions to deepen their romance.

A new mod for Cyberpunk 2077 has launched, allowing players to engage with romantic interest Judy Alvarez in a much more natural and realistic way. Many players feel that CD Projekt Red underdelivered on its promise of a massive, next-gen sci-fi RPG, which is part of what has led to mods that improve Cyberpunk 2077‘s graphics, vehicle handling, NPCs, and more.

Cyberpunk 2077, much like CD Projekt Red’s other RPG franchise The Witcher, includes multiple different NPCs that players can romance. Some of these characters amount to little more than flings or one-night stands, while others play much larger roles in the overall story of the game, and their romance subplots are far more fleshed-out. Judy Alvarez is one of these more significant romance options, as she is introduced early on in the game and is the focus of one of Cyberpunk 2077‘s larger quest lines. Judy is a fan-favorite character, and many players have chosen her as their love interest in the game for this reason. However, although the 1.5 patch for Cyberpunk 2077 made romancing Judy better, some may feel that things are a bit lackluster after the initial coupling up, as she remains unnaturally static in her behavior whenever V visits her at her apartment.

Recognizing this, Nexus Mods user deceptious opted to develop a mod that would expand Judy’s range of post-courting behavior. Whereas Judy would remain exclusively by her window in vanilla Cyberpunk 2077, she will engage in various activities thanks to the mod, including eating, showering, and sleeping (without a prompt from the player). A “hug” prompt has also been added through this mod, allowing users to engage in realistically intimate behavior with their chosen in-game love interest.

While many of these new additions may seem minor at first glance, they can actually have a major impact on the overall role-playing elements and immersion of the game. Romance interests in Cyberpunk 2077 may send NSFW texts and feature in explicit sex scenes, but their inclusion can be more than just sensational or objectifying; one of the biggest parts of Cyberpunk 2077 is the feeling of actually living in Night City, and mods that make regular and relatable human behavior (such as the casual domestic activity of being in a couple) can help achieve this goal.

Players should, as always, try out this mod at their own risk, but it is a perfect example of how mods can add simple tweaks that a game’s developers may have overlooked. It’s unlikely that many consider Judy’s rote and stagnant behavior as one of the biggest problems facing Cyberpunk 2077, but deceptious’ mod can go a long way towards building a more comprehensive, engaging experience.
