Best Team Builds For Xiao In Genshin Impact

Xiao is a 5-star Anemo character in Genshin Impact suited to the Main DPS role. Xiao shines when using his Elemental Burst to deal massive damage.

Genshin Impact‘s Xiao is regarded as one of Genshin Impact‘s most powerful DPS characters, a rare occurrence for characters attuned with Anemo. Unlike other Anemo users who rely on triggering the Swirl Elemental Reaction with other elements, thus excelling in Support and Sub-DPS roles, Xiao deals devastating attack DMG and Anemo DMG. Using his unmistakable Elemental Burst, a repetitive plunging attack that deals damage to enemies from above, Xiao excels when used alongside another Anemo character like Jean or Sucrose that can play the role of an Anemo energy battery.

Xiao was first added to Genshin Impact in the 1.3 update and has since received two reruns of his Banner, “Invitation to Mundane Life.” Xiao is currently one of five 5-star Anemo characters in Genshin Impact. Uniquely, Xiao is the only Anemo character in the game to wield a Polearm. This could change with the arrival of the upcoming playable character Shikanoin Heizou, expected to arrive in Genshin Impact‘s 2.8 update. Heizou has been confirmed to be an Anemo user, but his rarity and weapon have yet to be officially confirmed.

Xiao possesses a unique skill set that sets him apart from Genshin Impact‘s other Anemo-wielding characters. Not needing to rely on the Swirl Elemental Reaction, Xiao can effectively deal damage to enemies at close range using his Polearm while his elemental energy recharges. Xiao’s pièce de résistance is his Elemental Burst in Genshin Impact, Bane of All Evil, which grants him the ability to jump and plunge from a height, crashing down on enemies and dealing increased attack DMG and Anemo DMG. Therefore, Xiao requires a team that supports his elemental energy recharge.

Best Team Comps For Xiao In Genshin Impact 2022

Genshin Impact Characters With Birthdays In April 2022 Xiao

With most Genshin Impact characters, there is disagreement about the best team composition to support each character. This isn’t the case for Xiao, however, with many Genshin Impact players opting for the same Anemo/Geo party using the last remaining Yaksha. With Xiao as the Main DPS, Jean acts as a Support and Healer while providing Anemo particles to speed up Xiao’s elemental energy recharge. In the Geo half of the party, Genshin Impact‘s Albedo fulfills the Sub-DPS role and Zhongli provides Support; both Geo characters can provide shields to the party.

For Genshin Impact players who don’t own the 5-star characters in the above Anemo/Geo party, there are multiple alternatives that use Genshin Impact‘s 4-star characters to support Xiao in the Main DPS role. Instead of Jean, Sucrose fulfills the Sub-DPS role, acting as an Anemo energy battery for Xiao. For a F2P Pyro-focused team, finish the party with Xiangling as second Sub-DPS and Bennett as a Healer/Support, also providing ATK buffs to the team. For a party using Cryo users in Genshin Impact, Chongyun takes the place of the second Sub-DPS, lowering his teammates’ Elemental Burst cooldown time, which is perfect for Xiao. Finally, Diona acts as Healer/Support and provides shields.

Xiao is Genshin Impact‘s best Anemo DPS character and arguably the only Anemo character in the game currently suited to the Main DPS role. To get the most out of Xiao in the Main DPS role, another Anemo character should be used alongside him to provide Anemo elemental energy recharge. Sucrose, one of Genshin Impact‘s more easily attainable 4-star characters, works well in this role, but beginner players can also use Genshin Impact‘s Anemo Traveler. Additionally, characters who can decrease Xiao’s Elemental Burst cooldown or boost his DMG are a good choice.
