1 Detail Suggests Owen Lars Will Kill Reva In The Kenobi Finale

Reva will presumably head for Tatooine in the Obi-Wan Kenobi series finale, but could it be Owen Lars who defeats the deadly Jedi hunter in a twist?

Warning: Spoilers for Obi-Wan Kenobi episode 5.

Reva is shown to be a dangerous and obsessed Imperial Inquisitor in the Obi-Wan Kenobi series, but one particular detail hints that she might be killed by Owen Lars, not Obi-Wan or Darth Vader. Reva, a.k.a. the Third Sister, is a well-trained and lethal dark side warrior, despite the Sith limiting the training and strength of their Inquisitor underlings. Owen Lars has no Force abilities, but he is determined to protect his family at all costs and a particular bit of dialogue in the Obi-Wan Kenobi pilot suggests that this may be Reva’s ultimate undoing.

Reva is one of the main antagonists in the Obi-Wan series, but she’s hardly a simple villain. With a tragic origin as a Jedi youngling who was nearly killed by Darth Vader during Order 66, Reva’s true goal isn’t to kill Obi-Wan Kenobi, but to exact revenge on Darth Vader. Obi-Wan Kenobi episode 5 ends on a particularly ominous note, however, which will likely see the relentless Inquisitor return to Tatooine in search of Darth Vader’s son, Luke Skywalker.

Owen Lars and Reva have an intense first encounter in the Obi-Wan Kenobi series premiere, with the Third Sister interrogating him and threatening his family before all but promising another confrontation. In episode 5, titled “Part V,” Reva discovers a transmission from Bail Organa meant for Kenobi, mentioning Owen Lars and Darth Vader’s son on Tatooine, strongly implying that she’ll be headed back to the desolate world to threaten Owen’s family. Although Owen Lars is no match for Reva in a fair fight, the series has set him up to potentially kill the Third Sister, both preserving the continuity of A New Hope and providing his and Reva’s rivalry with a dark conclusion that shows how far Lars is willing to go to protect his family.

Obi-Wan Kenobi Uncle Owen Joel Edgerton

Luke Skywalker witnesses a lightsaber being ignited and use of the Force for the first time in A New Hope, so having Reva travel to Tatooine to attack Luke threatens the current Star Wars continuity. While Obi-Wan Kenobi himself could intercept Reva before she reaches the Lars homestead, he’s being pointed more toward another confrontation with Darth Vader. Owen Lars already stood up to Reva in the Obi-Wan Kenobi pilot, but the series finale could have him do the seemingly impossible and kill a trained Imperial Inquisitor before she can threaten his family, both saving the Star Wars canon timeline from major contradictions and unexpectedly showing that he can indeed protect his family from even a deadly opponent like Reva.

This would be similar to the story Old Wounds, a comic story that is non-canon to both Legends and the current continuity. In this story, Darth Maul returns from the dead (before Star Wars: The Clone Wars brought him back in the post-2014 canon) and battles Obi-Wan Kenobi outside of the Lars homestead, only for Owen to kill the former Sith Lord with a well-placed shot from his blaster. Reva far outclasses Owen as a warrior, but the Obi-Wan Kenobi series could give him his moment to shine by having him somehow best the Third Sister for the sake of his family, bringing the series full circle.
