New story details for What We Do in the Shadows season 4 tease what Nandor and Guillermo’s dynamic will look like after the season 3 finale.
New What We Do in the Shadows details reveal where Nandor and Guillermo stand in season 4. The FX mockumentary TV series is based on Taika Waititi’s eponymous film, although it focuses on an entirely new cast of characters. Kayvan Novak, Matt Berry, Natasia Demetriou, and Mark Proksch portray the central dull-witted vampiric roommates Nandor, Laszlo, Nadja, and Colin Robinson, with Blue Beetle‘s Harvey Guillén playing their indulgent familiar Guillermo. Each season, What We Do in the Shadows tracks its off-kilter leads through their nightly misadventures in Staten Island. The show has been a huge success for FX and What We Do in the Shadows seasons 5 and 6 have already been confirmed.
Due to premiere on July 12, 2022, What We Do in the Shadows season 4 will see its main characters reunite after the stirring season 3 finale. In season 3, the vampires decided to go their separate ways. But their plans did not pan out as intended. Nandor and Guillermo were supposed to go on a globe-trotting trip for the former’s fresh start, while Nadja and Laszlo were headed to London to join the Supreme Vampiric Council. But Laszlo betrays Guillermo and boots him into Nadja’s trunk, while he himself decides to stay back at the mansion to nurture a baby Colin Robinson. Nandor, believing that he had been stood up by Guillermo, dejectedly sets forth for the adventure on his own.
Now, a report by TVLine explains what the relationships between the lead characters will look like after they return to the mansion. Season 4 will kick off with a one-year time jump after which everyone will be back at the house. But the dynamic between Nandor and Guillermo is expected to be somewhat sour, as Nandor is still unaware of how Guillermo was betrayed by Laszlo. Guillermo, on the other hand, will be glad to be living with his master under the same roof again. He will, however, still bear a grudge against Nadja and Laszo over their treachery. Yet, despite all the tensions, the vampires will reportedly still come together for Colin Robinson’s upbringing, presumably mending their relationships in the process.
While Guillermo and Nandor might not get along after the latter’s return, the trailer for What We Do in the Shadows season 4 makes it obvious that somehow they will be able to redeem their friendship over the course of the new episodes. There is a moment in the season 4 trailer that sees Guillermo and Nandor taking up sword-fighting together, while another shows the Van Helsing descendant providing Laszlo with guidance to raise baby Colin Robinson. This seems to imply that as the season progresses, the strained relationships will heal and the characters will be back on good terms.
Regardless of where they are at the start of season 4, Nandor and Guillermo would need to ultimately resolve their differences before the end of the show. Nandor’s pursuit of love is one of the main highlights of the series, as his 37 wives are being resurrected. With a wedding also supposedly taking place in the penultimate episode of What We Do in the Shadows season 4, it’s seeming likely that his search for love will reach a climax. It’s unlikely that Nandor and Guillermo will end up together, as many fans hope, but at least their romantic tension will likely be addressed, and the two will find some closure about what each wants from the other.
