Ryan Reynolds Shares Step Brothers Tribute For Will Ferrell’s Birthday

Ryan Reynolds shares the perfect birthday tribute for his Spirited co-star Will Ferrell in a TikTok video that references Step Brothers.

Ryan Reynolds wished his Spirited co-star Will Ferrell a happy birthday with a Step Brothers tribute. Ferrell recently turned 55 on July 16. After working as a stand-up comic, the beloved comedian’s acting career began on Saturday Night Live, where he was a cast member from 1995 until 2002. After leaving the show, Ferrell’s career took off as he began to make a name for himself as a movie star.

Ferrell is primarily known for his comedies, many of which were collaborations with director Adam McKay. He starred opposite Ben Stiller in Zoolander and played the title roles in Elf and Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy. He then demonstrated his talents for drama and voice acting in Stranger Than Fiction and Dreamwork’s animated Megamind, respectively. Ferrell also starred in McKay’s hit comedy Step Brothers with John C. Reilly. In that movie, Ferrell performed “Por Ti Volaré”, the Spanish translation of opera singer Andrea Bocelli’s signature song, during the stepbrothers’ most triumphant moment.

Naturally, Ferrell received many well-wishes from both fans and celebrity friends on his birthday this year. Reynolds shared his own birthday well-wishes in a TikTok video using the “Por Ti Volaré” instrumental track as the sound. In the video, Reynolds doesn’t say a word, although it appears he wants to jump into his own rendition of the classic song, creating a hilariously awkward tribute to Ferrell’s Step Brothers moment. Reynolds’ silly video is the perfect tribute to a comedian like Ferrell. Throughout his career, Reynolds has also made a name for himself for his humor both on and off the screen. The Deadpool star has been known to tailor unique birthday messages for his celebrity friends. Last year, he honored Hugh Jackman’s birthday similarly with a silly video posted to TikTok where he revealed his socks were decorated with his friend’s face. It seems that while making their upcoming movie together, Ferrell and Reynolds also became close enough for Ferrell to earn one of Reynolds’ unique videos.

Reynolds and Ferrell will appear together in Apple TV+’s modern retelling of Charles Dickens’ A Christmas Carol. The film, titled Spirited, will also feature Octavia Spencer (Hidden Figures) and Sunita Mani (Mr. Robot). The musical-comedy has already wrapped filming and should premiere on the streaming service near the end of this year. With both Reynolds and Ferrell lending their comedic talents to Spirited, the Christmas musical should be a hilarious ride.
