Percy Jackson author Rick Riordan responds to fans’ questions about Camp Half-Blood merchandise, which may be available sooner than expected.
Percy Jackson author Rick Riordan responds to fans’ questions about Camp Half-Blood merchandise. Riordan’s best-selling book series was first adapted into two feature films from 20th Century Fox, which were poorly received by both critics and fans alike. First announced in 2020 after the Mouse House acquired Fox, Percy Jackson and the Olympians is the long-awaited Disney+ adaptation which, with Riordan heavily involved, is expected to be a more faithful live-action depiction of his beloved YA series.
The Adam Project‘s Walker Scobell leads the Percy Jackson and the Olympians cast as the titular teenage demigod. He’s joined by Empire‘s Leah Sava Jeffries as Annabeth Chase, a daughter of Athena, and Cheaper by the Dozen‘s Aryan Simhadri as Grover Underwood, a satyr and Percy’s best friend. At the recent D23 Expo, the first Percy Jackson trailer was unveiled, revealing the show’s version of Camp Half-Blood. After seeing the first look, fans were struck by the campers’ signature orange shirts and began wondering when they might be able to get their hands on some official Percy Jackson merchandise.
After hearing some questions about the new Camp Half-Blood shirts, Riordan took to his website to address the fan inquiries. The Percy Jackson author credited the show’s art department and costume designers for the new design, which he called “absolute fire“. Read what Riordan shared on his website below:
Another question is about the new generation design for the Camp Half-Blood shirts, which are absolute fire, thanks to our art department and costume designers. I imagine there will be many ways to score your own T-shirt, and Disney is working on that right now, so stay tuned.
Another common question fans had about the Percy Jackson trailer that Riordan addressed in his recent blog post was pertaining to an unusual symbol present on cabins in Camp Half-Blood. The Percy Jackson author confirmed the symbols were not Greek nor any human language, and said fans will eventually discover their meaning later on. Like any good teaser trailer should, Percy Jackson‘s has left fans with plenty to speculate about and a yearning to see more. That viewers are so eager to get their own Camp Half-Blood shirts and have been digging into the trailer’s background demonstrates how high anticipation for Percy Jackson already is.
The new generation of Camp Half-Blood tees are slightly different from previous visual depictions of the books, as the show’s design features a circular pattern around a central black Pegasus. Both Riordan and Percy Jackson‘s fans are loving the new design and are excited about scoring a new Camp Half-Blood tee of their own. When exactly that will be possible is unclear, though based on Riordan’s answer, it sure sounds like it could be soon, likely long before Percy Jackson premieres on Disney+ in 2024.
