Ironheart Will Be Affected By Black Panther 2 Events, Teases Producer

Exclusive: Producer Nate Moore teases how the events in Black Panther 2 will impact Riri Williams going into the new Ironheart Disney+ series.

Producer Nate Moore hints at how the events of Black Panther 2 will impact Riri Williams going into Ironheart. In Black Panther: Wakanda Forever the nation of Wakanda must face a new threat while mourning the death of its king and protector T’Challa. The new movie is introducing a lot to the MCU with Namor and Talokan, a new Black Panther, and Riri Williams aka Ironheart. Each of these stories is sure to play out further in the MCU, but Ironheart’s is the only one set to continue next year.

SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY

Riri is a young genius MIT student who builds her own Iron Man-style armor. Riri is pulled from her life at MIT into the conflict between Wakanda and Talokan. After Riri’s debut in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever her story will continue in the Ironheart Disney Plus series in 2023, which Ryan Coogler is executive producing. During Screen Rant’s exclusive interview with Moore, he teased how Riri’s experience in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever will impact her going into Ironheart.

“You think about this woman who was plucked from a relatively normal life as an MIT student, who all of a sudden has encountered an underwater civilization, gone to Wakanda, flown a mech suit, and then is plopped back into a world at MIT? I certainly think it colors how she thinks about what we would call the real world. And I think it might set her on a different course in her show because, boy, it’s going to be hard to go back to doing homework after what she just experienced.”

How Black Panther 2 Could Set Up The Ironheart Series

Riri Williams works on the Ironheart suit in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever.

It seems like the events of Black Panther: Wakanda Forever will leave a major impression on the young college student. Riri is living a relatively normal life only to be thrust into a major conflict between Wakanda and Talokan. After living through this, she returns to her life at MIT. This is exactly the kind of experience that can change the trajectory of someone’s future.

Riri is pulled into the chaos between the two nations due to her involvement with Vibranium, which has drawn the attention of Namor and Talokan. Riri’s experience in Wakanda, Talokan, and flying in her mech suit causes a major shift in her understanding of the world leading into Ironheart. Shuri could step into the role of Riri’s MCU mentor instead of Tony Stark in Ironheart given the bond they form in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever—even potentially setting up an appearance by the Wakandan royal in Ironheart.

After these events, it would be impossible to return to her life as it was before. This could be the catalyst that inspires Riri to actively pursue being a hero potentially seeking out danger on her own. Perhaps most intriguing is how her experience with Wakanda and Talokan will change how she views the world. She could develop an interest in the more hidden or even magical elements in the world of the MCU because of Talokan, which would be the perfect way to connect Riri Williams’ Ironheart to Parker Robbins’ The Hood in the upcoming series.
