TGA 2022 Highlights – Elden Ring’s GOTY Win & Release Date Reveals For Jedi: Survivor, Suicide Squad, & More

Elden Ring won the prestigious GOTY award while also bagging the award for Best Direction. However, God of War Ragnarok was the most nominated game this year and took home many awards, such as Best Performance, Best Narrative, Best Audio Design, Innovation in Accessibility, and Best Score/Music. Christopher Judge, Kratos himself, gave a lengthy acceptance speech, which was the subject of many jokes as the ceremony continued. Ragnarok’s composer, Bear McCreary, even joined Hozier’s performance on stage earlier in the show.

The first half of 2023 is looking to be the release window for many major games, such as Final Fantasy 16, which is scheduled for release in June 2023. Star Wars Jedi: Survivor received a release date and a gameplay trailer showing how much Cal Kestis has grown in the years since Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order. Jedi: Survivor is set to release on March 17, 2023. Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League debuted a new trailer teasing Batman’s appearance in the game, which included a touching tribute to the actor Kevin Conroy, the longtime voice of Bruce Wayne who sadly passed away last month. Cyberpunk 2077’s Phantom Liberty DLC received a new trailer providing more detail on the story, which features actor Idris Elba playing a starring role.

Perhaps the biggest announcements of the show came in the form of FromSoftware’s epic new trailer for Armored Core 6, signaling their return to the long-dormant franchise. In an even more exciting reveal, Hideo Kojima made a special appearance announcing Death Stranding 2, with a reveal trailer promising another mysterious and fantastic story. Actors from the previous game, Norman Reedus, Léa Seydoux, and Troy Baker, are returning in the sequel. All in all, 2022 saw the release of many tremendous games, and The Game Awards has shown that 2023 may just top it.
